STRETCHING EXCERCISES

Stretching - A simple way to loosen tight muscles and combat stress is to do stretching exercises. They take only a few minutes and can be done at home or at work. They will do you much more good than a coffee break. Some examples of stretching exercises are
(a) back stretch – while sitting, stretch forward, rest your body on your lap, and relax your head and neck, letting your arms hang down. Hold for about a minute, then press on your thighs to help yourself sit up;
(b) neck stretch – while standing or sitting, slowly tilt your head to the right without moving your shoulders, then slowly tilt it to the left;
(c) upper body stretch – with your feet a comfortable distance apart, reach your hands overhead and stretch to the side (trying not to move your hips), then hold for 30 seconds and switch your hands to the other side;
(d) leg stretch - while standing, place one foot on a stool 6 or 8 inches high and slowly lean forward, bending from your hips and keeping your back straight. For a full programme, repeat each exercise 5 times.
