The Bible tells us we are to tremble before the Word of God (Isaiah 66:2,5) – “Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “These are the ones I look on with favour: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word. 5 Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: …”
We are to receive it with all readiness and search it daily (Acts 17:11).
We are to receive it because it is, in truth, the Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
We are to receive it gladly (Acts 2:41).
We are to keep it, follow it, bend to it, revere it (1 John 2:5).
We are to treat it as precious (1 Samuel 3:1).
It is to reside on our tongues (2 Samuel 23:2).
We are to be always mindful of the Word and abide in its reality (1 Chronicles 16:8).
We are to praise the Word and trust it (Psalm 56:4,10).
We are to allow the Word to try our souls and purify our hearts (Psalm 105:19).
We are to hide the Word in our hearts, cherish it in our innermost being, protect it as our most sacred possession (Psalm 119:11).
We are to publish the Word and testify of it (Psalm 68:11).
We are to delight in it and never forget it (Psalm 119:16).
We are to be quickened by its power, its grace, its majesty (Psalm 119:50).
We are to allow it to be our strength (Psalm 119:28).
It is to be our measuring tool for truth, & we are to trust it implicitly (Is. 8:20; Ps. 119:42).
We are to hope in the Word (Psalm 119:81).
We are to love the Word and delight in its purity (Psalm 119:140).
We are to meditate on it (Psalm 119:148).
We are to let it be the joy and rejoicing of our hearts (Jeremiah 15:16).
It is to be our sustenance, the food of our soul, the life of our very being (Matthew 4:4)
