STUDY ON FAITH
1. What is it? Heb11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (cf 2 Cor. 5:7 “for we walk by faith, not by sight.”) Ps. 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in thee.” TRUST.
2. What does it do?
a. Eph. 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God” - SAVES
b. Phil. 3:9 “and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, based on law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith;” - RIGHTEOUSNESS
c. 1Thess1:3 “remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labour of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ” (NIV – “your work produced faith”)
3. How does it come about? Gal5:22 - A FRUIT OF SPIRIT
4. How powerful is it? 1Jn. 5:4,5 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” OVERCOMES THE WORLD
a. Mark 9:23 “And Jesus said to him, “If you can! All things are possible to him who believes.”
5. Do you believe? Matt 9:27 – 29 “And as Jesus passed on from there, 2 blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” … the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” “To do it.”
